The Town of New Shoreham regulates and licenses all chauffeurs, taxis, buses and limousines operating on Block Island.
The Commission on Motor Vehicles for Hire maintains a waiting list, updated annually, of applicants who continue to meet taxi, bus and limousine license requirements.
Uber & Lyft
Uber, Lyft and other transportation network services are not licensed by the Town.
Complaints
Complaints are investigated by the New Shoreham Commission on Motor Vehicles for Hire.
Motor Vehicle for Hire
In order to be put on the Motor Vehicle for Hire waitlist you must provide the following:
- Copy of current Driver’s License
- 5 years of tax returns showing your address as the Town of New Shoreham
- 5 years of voter registration for the Town of New Shoreham
- Letter of interest to the Board of License Commissioners
